New Mexico offerings have arrived and we can't wait for y'all to try!
This Veracruz blend starts with a dry fragrance that is warm and sweet, offering notes of brown sugar, orange, and roasted nuts. As the grinds steep, the aroma turns into something like a chocolate covered orange with a dusting of cinnamon. The first sip is round and confectionary as flavors of marzipan and brown sugar appear with roasted walnut underneath. After cooling, the softer flavors of orange peel and warming spices come forward and hold through the finish. The acidity is low and rounded, and the body is slick with medium intensity. This is the kind of coffee we reach for when we want something comforting and familiar without giving up complexity, and it takes milk beautifully. Grab a bag online or stop by the shop to give it a try!
This offering is a regional blend drawn from smallholder farmers around Coatepec, Cosautlán, and Tepetlán - three of the coffee-growing communities scattered across the mountains of central Veracruz. Cherry is selected for quality as it comes in from late January through March, and the lot is built and refined over the course of that harvest window rather than assembled all at once. Three farms make up this particular lot: La Bolsa, La Chiripa, and San Alfonso. Blending across farms and varieties at this scale is how a region like Veracruz builds something consistent and repeatable, and we think this one shows exactly what that part of Mexico does best.
