This coffee placed #10 in this year's Cup of Excellence competition. We find it to be a dynamic cup with notes of dark chocolate and fresh fruit that are greeted by a sharp, citrus acidity. The aftertaste lingers and is reminiscent of molasses, cacao, and roasted nuts. We love how approachable this coffee is while still offering the complexity and balance that you would expect from a coffee with such a high honor as a COE winner. Grab a tin online or stop by the shop to give it a try!

Rancho El Separo is a family-run farm located in Ohuapan, at 1,400 meters above sea level in the municipality of Tlaltetela, Veracruz. This land was named El Separo by Senén’s grandfather, the first in the family to plant coffee here. His son, Zenén, continued the work, and today Senén and Monika represent the third generation caring for each coffee tree with respect and passion.

This lot was harvested in early March with one goal in mind: exceptional quality from tree to cup. The Bulbarella family paid higher wages to their pickers to ensure only the ripest cherries were selected directly from the branches. The hard work, passion, and care of the entire team shows itself clearly in this cup.
